Ross, on behalf of the local 'Club, handed the Shield over to the visitors and congratulated them on their victory. A happy social time had resulted from their visit besides strenuous play and he hoped Jthey, the two clubs, would have an opportunity of again meeting on the green on some future occasion. Cheers were then given for the winners.
Mr. 11. Snell accepted the Shield on behalf of the visitors and said they were very pleased to again be in possession of the trophy. A good deal of sentiment was centred around the Shield as far as the Terrace End Club was concerned as the donor, Mr. J. Fletcher, of Palmerston North, was present to witness the first match for it between Terrace End and the Palmerston North Club, and had suddenly expired that same night. Mr. Snell extended an invitation to the local Club to be represented at the electric light tournament to be held at Terrace End at an early date and called on the visitors for three cheers for the Foxton Club. Cheers were also given for the ladies, who provided a tasty afternoon tea. The following team will represent the local Club to co|mpete for the Manson and Barr ICup at Palmerston North on Saturday: — W. S. Heyes, John Ross, W. Nye snr., J. M. Thomson.
