A FOOLISH FATAL JOKE.

YOUNG WOMAN SHOT DEAD. Auckland, January 20. Edna Violet Lewis, aged 17 years, of Waharoa, Waikato, was the victim of a shooting fatality today. There was a shooting party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Le’wis, and one of the party left a gun standing beside the gate. Miss Lewis and her sisters were sitting on! top of the gate. A young man picked up the gun, not knowing it was loaded, and, in play, pointed it at the girls and pulled the trigger. Miss Lewis received the full force of the shot in (he' neck and was killed instantly.
