HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE. The Department o ! f Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated sth instant, from the High Commissioner for New 7 Zealand, London: — Hemp. —-Manila: Strong market on active demand from Japan and America and scarcity of offers. “,J” grade for January-Alarch shipment sold up to £39/10/-. Closing value £4O. Output' to 31st December, 1928, 1,400,000 bales against 1,291,000 in previous year. iSisal. —Alar'ket firm and sellers holding for J a nuavy-Maroh shipment at £4l/5/- to £4l/10/- for No. 1 and £3B/15/- to £39/5/- for No. 2. Early position at 10/- discount. New Zealand market quiet with most interest shown in lower grades. Closes more active and business has has been done in January-February shipments. High points £36; common £3l; rejected £3O; and Febru-ary-April shipments of fair at £34.
