LAYING THE ODDS.

When the police saw Reginald Merton Semb giving change frequently for money on Awapuni racecourse on Thursday he was interviewed,- and admitted laying totalisator odds. He appeared in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday and was fined £lO, being given a month in which to pay. Senior Detective T. Quirke said the amounts had been small, and accused had admitted laying six bets. /ATsheet was found on him. He had three children and had been before the Court twice previously.
