HAWKE CUP MATCH. Palmerston N., December 26. Rain caused a postponement of play until the afternoon in the Hawke Cup match, [Manawatu v. Hawke’s Bay, which commenced here to-day. When stumps were drawn Manawatu had made 129 runs for the lost of six wickets. The wicket was fairly slow, but promised improvement if the rain held off. Canterbury made a very poor showing, being disposed of for 153 runs, and following on lost two wickets for 12 runs.
