MANAWATU RACECOURSE TRUSTEES.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Manawatu Racecourse Trustees was held in the Racing Club’s office, Foxton, on Saturday, presided over by Mi*. John Kebbell (chairman). Also present were: Trustees 4V. E. Bai’ber, Francis Robinson, the secretary (Mr. Alf. Fraser), and Messrs D. R. Ogilvy, J. Martin (secretary Foxton Racing Club),H. E. Hewitt and J. Newton. / FIFTY-EIGHTH ANNUAL REPORT. The chairman read the fiftyeighth annual report as follows: “The Trustees have the honour to report that the credit balance at the Post Office Savings Bank is i £46 19s 2d, the balance-sheet vouchers and Bank Pass Book, lie on the table and are open to inspection. ; “During the year under review I have to report that the racecourse has been kept in the usual satisfactory manner. The tracks are all in good order and are highly commented on by the local trainers. , ■ “It is again pleasing to report that locally trained horses have been very successful at the different meetings. “The buildings have been kept in good order. They have recently been painted and renovated. “In general with other (Clubs, the race meeting held in January suffered through the general depression. “The club is looking forward to a successful meeting next month. After a great deal of consideration the committee decided to hold the races on the 16th and 17th of January. It was considered that the change of dates would result in a larger number of horses attending the meeting. “Great credit is due to Mr. Simpson, the club’s caretaker, for the keen interest he takes in the grounds. “It is with deep regret that I have, to record the death of Mr. V. Robinson who had been a member and ‘steward of the club for a number of year’s.” Mr. TVI E. Barber said the finances of -the Racing Club were not as strong as they might be but the club was looking forward to a good meeting next month. If this obtained there was a good deal of work the club would undertake in the way of improvements. Mr. Robinson said he would like to see the Trustees donate a sum to the Racing (Club for improvement to the track. Mr. Barber approved of the suggestion. The report was adopted on the motion of Messrs Wt E. Barber and J. Newton. ; On the motion of Messrs A. Fraser and F. Robinson it was decided to donate the sum of £45 to the Racing Club for improvements to the track. A Mr. W. E. Barber expressed the pleasure of members at the attendance of Mr. Kebbell at the meeting. He hoped that he would be spared to attend many more meetings. He moved a motion of thanks to the" chairman for his attendance. Mr. D. jR. Ogilvy seconded the motion which was earned with applause. The chairman in returning thanks said that he was 88 years of age but he hoped that he would be able to attend many future meetings.
