METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL.

ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. The Anniversary services held on Sunday in connection with the above school proved a great success. The weather was ideal for the whole day. The church was nicely decorated and the children were in good trim. The addresses at all services were greatly enjoyed and listened to with great attention. The Rev. E. J. Parsons, of Palmerston North, spo'ke in the morning on the Beatitudes and illustrated the same by a story of a dream or vision and being a children’s story-teller of much merit, was able to make it very interesting. In the afternoon he read the 55th Chapter of Isiah with great vigour and afterwards played his famous game of shop with the children. The children, four in number were selected and came to buy. “Truth” represented by a good mirror, “Courage,” made up of a mixture of white, red and blue liquids; “Kindness” of a mixture of texts; and “Love” as represented by the Cross. Mr. J. Chrystall in the evening gave a most enjoyable short address upon Mottoes, quoting several connected with schools, societies, etc. in England and Scotland and commenting upon them. The singing by the children and choir was very much enjoyed both by singers and hearers. The congregations at all services were good and thanks are due to Mi*. R. T. Betty, as conductor, and Mrs. Dorset, as organist, which added to the success of the anniversary. SCHOOL CONCERT. The Methodist Sunday School annual concert and prize-giving took place last evening, when a fair number of parents assembled to see the children receive their prizes. The anniversary hymns were repeated and a much-appreciated programme of children’s items rendered.

The secretary’s report and bal-ance-sheet were read and disclosed a prosperous outlook. The Rev. J. H. Edmondson gave a short address on Sunday school work and workers.

Mr. Huntley, tho superintendent, also gave a brief address and thanked Mr. Betty for his helping once again in the anniversary festival; also Mrs. Dorset, and all who had helped to make the anniversary such a success. The following scholars contributed. to the programme'Clarice Hobbs, Annie Dorset, Doris Coley, Alan Coley, Percy Symes, Keith and Nancy (Chrystall, Hazel Hinds, and Billie Bullard.
