DEATH TO THE MAGGOT.

SUCCESSFUL RESEARCH. Nelson, December 5. The control of the maggots of blowflies in sheep by means of a natural enemy was undertaken in 1926 by Dr. Miller, chief of the Entomological Department of the jCawthron institute when holding the position of New Zealand Government Entomologist. On an arrangement with the Department the work has been continued at the Cawthron Institute and Dr. Miller has been successful in his experiments. Part of the Cawthron insectary has been set apart for the mass production of the parasites and the second brood since the winter is now being distributed; These distributions will be made throughout the coming summer and autumn, when it is expected the parasite will be sufficiently established for practical purposes. The Live Stock Division is assisting in /the distribution and supplies have been sent to stock inspectors in the different districts. A large consignment of the parasites sent to Australia proved a great success.
