FIRE BRIGADE.
For some time past members of the Foxton Fire Brigade have been practicing assiduously for the annual competition which is to be held at Hokitika on the 21st of February. The team has now been selected to send away and is as follows: Deputy Superintendent H. Reid, Fireman H. Parker, R. Desjardines and secretary A. Walls. The time-keeper for the various test runs, from which the best team was selected was Mr. C. Procter and Superintendent A. Stevenson supervised and made the necessary tests. In order to raise funds to send the teahi away the Brigade has arranged for various functions, in the nature of dances and shop days, and it is to be hoped that the public will accord them a generous measure of support. On Tuesday evening the local Fire Brigade held a dance in the Alasonic Hall. There was a fair attendance and the brigade’s funds will benefit as a result.
