SCHOOL FUNCTIONS.
END OF YEAR FESTIVITIES. Next Tuesday afternoon the standard 6 pupils of the local District High school will entertain parents and teachers at afternoon tea and advantage will be taken of the occasion by the headmaster to speak to parents on the matter of post primary education. On Friday, December 14th, the side school will hold its annual concert in the Beach Hall. This pleasing little function is well worth patronage by Foxton people. The following day, Saturday, December 15th, the secondary pupils are holding' an athletic tournament when competitors from Marton arfd Levin District High Schools will be present to compete with Foxton for the Thompson Shield in tennis, athletics and swimming. The shield for this competition, has been specially and quite voluntarily presented for the purpose by a local resident, Councillor R. J. Thompson, and the staff and pupils are desirous of seeing a big gathering of parents and residents at the various contests, particulars of which will appear later in the week.
The annual school concert will take place on Tuesday, the 18th inst., in the Town Hall and practice for this function has begun in earnest. December 19th will see the end of the actual school year and on that date the usual ceremonies will be held, namely, presentation of certificates Avon, presentation of Bock MentoTial Dux prizes, Infants’ Christmas Tree, and on this occasion the secondary pupils will entertain their' parents and the teaching staff at afternoon tea. In connection with all the above functions the headmaster has expressed the hope that all parents, committee and friends will make a point of attending when possible.
