THE FLOOD.

As a result of the heavy rain experienced again last week the Manawatu river rose rapidly towards the close of the week and once more inundated the Moutoa and Wliirokino, completely blocking road access between Foxton and Shannon. The Foxton-Levin road, which has been inaccessible for some days owing to the depth of water on the Levin side of the bridge, was covered for a distance on the Foxton side of the bridge over the week end. To give some idea of the suddenness of the rise, Mr. F. Rout’s char-a-banc, which was left in an apparently safe place in the morning was surrounded by water when Mr. Rout returned from his trip to Levin and he was unable to remove it.
