SOVIET METHODS.
ENEMIES OF REGIME TO BE SHOT. SHORT SENTENCES DEPLORED. LONDON, Oct. 17. “So long as capitalism exists we must, and shall, continue shooting people dangerous to our society and regime.” This was the declaration of the Soviet’* chief prosecutor, M. Krilenko, at a Prison Reform conference. AI. Krilenko deplored the ever-increasing number of short imprisonments inflicted on workers, and explained that he was drafting a bill to standardise the punishment for non-political offences. The same punishment would be given all convicted persons, followed by lifelong exile, while criminals escapin'* from imprisonment would be deported to Siberia and punished by boycott or compulsory labour.
