HEENEY IN AUCKLAND.

LEAVING FOR AMERICA. EARLY START WITH TRAINING. AUCKLAND, Oct, 17. “I will go into training immediately on arrival* in America, said Tom Heeney, who reached Auckland with Mrs Heeney last evening to join the Niagara for Vancouver next Wednesday. Heeney said that Air Tex Rickard had advised him that he would follow Sharkey and Uzcudum in the eliminating contests to decide the successor to Gene Tunney. Other participants would be Hansen, T. Lough ran, Stribbling, Risco, and Phil Scott. Heeney mentioned that both Sharkey and Uzcudum had been injured, a fact which might delay the first fight, which he had expected in February. The New Zealand featherweight champion, J. Leckie, has been in communication with Heeney regarding bis management for an American tour.
