HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the committee of the above was held in the Presbyterian schoolroom last evening. There were present: Mesdames Easton, Baker, and Murphy, Misses J. A. Ross, Speirs, and Gower, Messrs Christie (President), Murphy, Poole, Cresswel], T. E. Hughes, and the secretary. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames P. Easton, Heasman, and Messrs John Ross, W 7. Nye, R. Hornblow, and Jas. Ross. 'The financial statement of the Bulb Show was read, and showed a credit balance of £4. Considerable discussion took place on the date of the summer show. Owing to the election probably falling on the proposed date it was resolved to select November Bth as the date for the summer show. New features of this show will be school children’s exhibition, photographic classes, and cottage gardens. Votes of thanks were passed to the judges, and stewards (especially Messrs T. E. Hughes and Cresswell, Miss Ross, and Mrs. S. Easton for securing the vases for the tables). Messrs A. F. Stevenson and Judd were proposed as members.

A sub-committee Avas set up to arrange the schedule, and submit a report to next meeting of the committee.

Accounts amounting to £3O were passed for payment.
