CYCLE ROA RACE.

Considerable interest was evinced locally in the Palmerston NorthWellington road race to-day, under the auspices of the New Zealand amateur association. A strong wind made the going extremely hard from Palmerston to Foxton, and apparently accounted for the non-arrival here of several riders who were understood to have started. The limit men —E. Evans (Wellington), W. Dryburg (Wellington) and S. Hall (Wellington), left Palmerston North at five minutes to nine, reaching Foxton just about two hours later. S. Hall (Wellington), was the other limit man (70 minutes) to make Foxton, which he did shortly after the others, having experienced a puncture on the Hi~ matangi road. The local rider, L. A. Couch (50 minutes), together with N. Collins and E. Pedersen, Palmerston N. (38 minutes), were the next batch to show up, and appeared to be going strong. The other competitors passing through were as follows, and in that order :-r-C. W. Pedley, Palmerston North, (40 minutes); A. Ciighton (Wellington), L. Deere (Wellington), E. A. Bellman (Wellington), L. Moorhouse (Wellington), L. J. Manning (Wellington), together; E. Blakeway (Wairarapa); R. A. Solverly (Feilding); A. T. Hart (Wellington); F. Christensen (Wellington), J. Robinson (Wellington), S. Wright (Wellington), W. J. Lamberton (Christchurch), D. Loonier (Wellington), S. K. Webber (Wellington), G. Farmer (Christchurch), together; F. T. Pollard (Gisborne), N. A. Bai (Gisborne), J. Algie (Gisborne), J. Morris (Wellington), M. Gane (Wellington), together; L. A. Kenny (Wjellington); W. Bray (Wellington); A. W T| . Pinker (Wellington); and the two scratch men, L. G.

Lukey and F. Grose (Christchurch). The scratch men, conceding 70 .minutes to the limit men, passed through Foxton at 11.35, having reprieved 35 minutes of their handicap on the Palmerston-Foxton run.
