MAIL MATTERS
As a result of recent negotiations, Mr. F. Rout has now once more taken over the Foxton-Levin mail service and rural deliveries connected therewith. Mr. Rout has a well-earned reputation as being a reliable mail carrier, and one who gets there despite flood or other setbacks encountered on the road. As a result of the change-over Foxton business people are able to despatch mail to Wellington in the morning and receive a reply to their correspondence the same evening at 9 o’clock, the late inward mail, having been changed to allow something like two hours extra time for Wellington business people to reply to letters received at midday. Under the old service this was impossible. Mr. Rout has placed an Austinseven on the rural delivery work, while the Studebaker is engaged in the passenger and through-mail service. Since taking over the service Mr. Rout has been’engaged in devising ways and means of speeding up the rural deliveries and boxholdei;s on these routes can anticipate a prompt and accurate service in the future while the Foxton mails will arrive well up to time.
