ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
CHILD KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. Auckland, Yesterday. Arthur George Speck, aged five years who resides at No. 14, Regina Street, Ponsonby, was knocked down by a motor-car in that street on Saturday afternoon, receiving injuries from which he subsequently died. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital, and found to be suffering from serious head injuries, from the result of which he died late on Saturday evening. Regina Street is a narrow thoroughfare, and the child rushed out from behind a stationary vehicle to be knocked down, by a motor-car driven by Mr. Cyril A. Smith, of 7, Anzac Avenue. ® ELDERLY MAN EXPIRES. Auckland, Yestefday. A waterside worker, W. Marshall, collapsed while loading timber on to a lorry on Central Wharf on Saturday morning. Marshall was an elderly man. He was employed as a casual hand. He died on the way to hospital.
