ELOCUTION AND SINGING.
ADDED ATTRACTIONS ON SHOW NIGHT. An anonymous donor offered a special prize of one guinea to the local Horticultural Society to he awarded to juvenile competitors for singing and elocution. This sum has been supplemented and a subcommittee consisting ,of Mrs. Moore and Messrs Poole and Hornblow was set up to arrange conditions. The committee, together with the president (Mr. D. Christie) and secretary (Mr. Nicholas), met yesterday afternoon and arranged details. It was decided that the competitions take place on the evening of the show. That the competitors be grouped into three classes, boys and girls up to eight years, from eight to 12 and 12 to 1G years. Each competitor to sing or recite his or her own selection. First and second prizes will be awarded in each group. The competitions are open to local children and to those residing at Moutoa and Oroua Downs.
