FIRE BRIGADES BILLIARD TOURNAMENT.

A team from the local Fire Brigade journeyed to Feilding last Tuesday evening to play a challenge billiard tournament against Feilding Brigade for the Coley Shield, at present held by the latter brigade. The tournament resulted : Foreman Gaskin (Feilding) defeated Foreman McArtney (Foxton), Fireman Fisher (Feilding) lost to Secretary Wjalls (Foxton), Fireman Scott (Feilding) lost to Fireman Desjardines (Foxton). Although successful in two out of three games, Foxton failed to lift the Shield, Feilding beating the local team by two in the aggregate points —the method of judging the winners.

At the conclusion of the tournament the visitors were hospitably entertained by the Feilding men. Superintendent Spaule proposed the toast of the visitors, Deputy-super-intendent Reid and Secretary Walls responding. Other toasts honoured were those of Foreman Gaskin, winner of the Levy Ferns for the highest break made in the tournament, and Honorary Members.
