SUGAR AGAIN DOWN
LOWEST PRICE FOR MANY
YEARS. Auckland, July 31. A further reduction of 10s a ton in the price of all grades of raw and refined sugars with the exception of tablet and icing sugars is announced by the Colonial Sugar Refining Company Limited, to take effect to-morrow. The latest reduction will bring the wholesale price of No. 1A sugar, the popular table grade, down to £2l 10s a ton. The price has been reduced four times this year by stages of 10s each, and last year there were four similar reductions, so that sugar is to-day £4 a ton cheaper than it was in January, 1927. The current price is the lowest on record for several years.
