WHALING LAUNCH DESTROYED BY FIRE.
Blenheim, Last Night. The whaling launch Miss Liberty, owned by the.J- A. Perano whaling party, of Tory Channel, took fire while chasing a whale in Cook Strait on Saturday. A low line was attached to the vessel which was .brought into the channel, but the tow line burnt through and the launch was completely destroyed. The crew were all saved. The Miss Liberty was one of the fastest erafts in New Zealand waters.
