WEDDING.

CONLAN —BATCHELOR. A wedding of considerable interest to Oroua Downs residents took place in All Saints’ Church, Foxton, on Thursday evening, when Catherine, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. X. Conlan, of Oroua Downs, was united to Nelson Arthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Batchelor, of Christchurch, and formerly of Wellington. Main Street was lined with motor cars and the church was crowded. Rev. W. IT. Walton officiated. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr. E. Conlan, was charmingly attired in a frock of beige crope-de-ehine with hat to tone and carried a pretty bouquet of autumn tints. Miss Vera Webb, of Palmerston North, cousin of the bride, carried out the duties of bridesmaid and wore a very pretty frock of shell pink georgette with black ribbon velvet trimmings and carried a pretty bouquet of autumn shades and asparagus fern.

At the conclusion of the ceremony the breakfast was held at Walls’ tea rooms where the usual felicitous speeches were made and toasts honoured.

The same evening a dance was held in the Oroua Downs Hall which was largely attended.
