ENTERTAINMENTS.

TOWN HALL

Wfilliam Haines’ latest picture, “West Point,” has been specially written for him, and will command great interest when it is shown at the Town Hall to-night. A college romance, enacted with the famous West Point Academy as its actual background, it is the type of modern sporting romance that audiences revel in. The story throws into bold relief the incorrigible optimism and desire for life of the average youth who enters college. Thus Haines as “Brice Wayne” makes friends and enemies — friends who Hatter him and, consequently, enemies he unconsciously adds to. He becomes too “fresh.” Even the girl he meets resents his bravado, and the course of their first love ceases to run smoothly, and real drama enters their lives. With “Spook Spoofing” (Comedy), News and N.Z. Scenic at usual prices.

Marcelline Day will lead a east oL' young players on Monday evening in a pretty little romantic story “College Days.” Prices as usual. ROYAL . The special attraction at the Royal to-night will be Fox’s screen adaptation of May Edginton’s story “The Joy Girl.” This is a humorous yet true to life tale of the matrimonial mix-ups of a foitune hunting flapper. At the same time, it is a Stirling defence of modern youth and jazz. Olive Borden is east as the “joy girl” and is supported by Neil Hamilton, Marie Dressier and a flying squadron of Palm Beach beauties. All the scenes at Palm Beach are presented in natural colours. Supporting the seven reel special are “Hei Blue Black Eyes” (Comedy), and Fox News. Prices 1/- and 1/0. Children half price. Next Wednesday Billie Dove will feature in “The Stolen Bride,” whilst to-night week Wallace Beery and Raymond Hatton will stage their big laugh feature “Now Were in the Air.”
