MARCH WORKING
The amount of gas manufactured during the month of March was%_ 406,900 feet, which with the amount in the holder on March Ist, 15,700 feet, made a total of 422,600 feet. During the month 348,600 feet was used by consumers, 20,000 feet at the works and there was 15,000 feet in the holder on April Ist, making a total of 383,600 feet accounted for and leaving 39,000 feet representing 9.5 per cent, unaccounted for. Thirty-six tons * of coal were carbonised, yielding 11,270 c.feet of gas to the ton. The recipts for the month totalled £159 16s Od and were made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £4O 13s Od, heat and power £llO 9s 3d, coke sales £4 16s 9d, tar sales 13/6, fittings £3 3s 6d. The expenditure 'for the month totalled £220 3s 8d and was made up as follows:—Coal £lOl 2s Od, salaries and wages £4O 14s Od, ser-* vices and fittings £8 17s 2d, general expenses £4 Is lid, repairs £2 Is 4d, Interest and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. GAS MANAGER’S REPORT. The gas manager reported that during the month one new bath sheater was installed and several services attended to. The bed of four retorts is now in working oriel-, and is proving fairly satisfactory. The bed of six retorts is being opened up for inspection. The stoker has applied for his annual leve and suitable arrangements leave and suitable arrangements his absence. —Adopted.
