BOROUGH COUNCIL.

MONTHLY MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the P’oxton Borough Council was held last night. . CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows : From the Main Highways Board, notifying that 60 chains of the Beach road in the borough had been declared a main highway. — Received. From the Valuation Department asking the Council to have an assessor appointed in the event of applications for re- valuations of in the borough.—Steps to bn taken to make the appointment. GENERAL. A formal motion authorising an overdraft at the bank was carried. The usual statutory motion striking the annual rate was passed. Cr. Lucinsky reported that the drain at the corner of No. 6 Line was dangerous and required attention. —Referred to road foreman. WATERWORKS FOREMAN’S REPORT. The waterworks foreman reported that during the month the following work was carried out: —• Repairing water meters, placing new (washers in seven hydrants; repacking five valves. Two sewer connections have been cleaned out and all maintenance work attended to. During the month 1,945,000 gallons of water was pumped, the maximum current used being 30 amps. —Adopted. ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT. The road foreman reported that during the month the road staff had been engaged on the following works: —Cleaning drains Spring, Russell, Jenks, Futter’ and Coley Streets, and Norbiton Road, cleaning Triangle, weeding water channels and footpath in Clyde Street and general maintenance work. The drain cleaning with theexception of Russell and Reeve Streets, has been completed and the latter will be finished immediately when a start will be made to patch ruts and carry out grading work on the Moutoa, Avenue and Sandon roads and Purcell Street. The footpath in Russell Street will also receive attention. —Adopted.
