TOWN HALL.. In “Quality Street,” Metro-Gold-wyn-Mayer’s screen version of Sir James M. Barrie’s immortal stage play, Marion Davies makes a brilliant contribution to the fine things of the screen. This picture, which will be shown at the Town Hall on Friday has been splendidly produced, Director Sydney Franklin having succeeded in applying the whimsical “Barrie touch” to. every scene. The love story that millions love opens in an English village at the time of the Napoleonic wars, and the dart that Cupid hurls among the old maids of “Quality Street” pierces the heart of Miss Phoebe Throssal deeper than young Dr. Valentine Brown knows. Fate takes him away to the wars, however, and when he returns and finds his old love apparently aged things begin to move — for Phoebe is piqued w T ith his cool treatment of her. Then her wiles prove how young she really has remained. “Roamin’ Gladiator” (Comedy), News. Usual prices. Tom Mix and Tony will be seen on Saturday in a big circus feature, “The Circus Age.” Usual prices.

ROYAL.

A picture as happy and as free as the great outdoors in which it was filmed is “Wild Beauty,” the spectacular wild horse story at the Royal on Saturday. Rex, the famous Morgan stallion, is the star of the picture, which is at the same time unusual in theme and in treatment. The mountain country of the great west furnishes the beautiful and elaborate setting in which this dramatic picture takes place. “Wild Beauty” is probably more general in appeal than any motion picture we have seen for months. The sportsman, naturalist, dramaturgist, and the exacting motion picture fan are a few of the classifications for which this picture was seemingly especially made. A horse which can act just like a man is a marvel in itself. The story is built around Rex and Rex has his wild horse herd and has to battle for supremacy, win the heart of a Kentucky mare from an Indian pony rival, slay a lion in mortal combat and sacrifice the free life for his love. The picture is intensely gripping. Also “Jane s Relations” (Comedy), and News. Prices 9d and 1/6. .Children 3d and 6d.
