■HEENEY ARRIVES IN NEW YORIv. New York, April 30. Tom Heeney has arrived. He appeared in excellent condition and laughed at Gene Tunney for giving a Shakespeare lecture at Yale University. Heeney said: “I never read any Shakespeare, Shakespeare is a ‘dead one,’ and a fighter ought to fight instead of taking uj> literature.” On landing Heeney declared that he Avas in the pink of condition. He immediately started training operations. SHARKEY DEFEATS DELANEY. NeAv York, April 30. Jack Sharkey (13.10), of Boston, knocked out Jack Delany (12.10), former light-heavyAveight champion of the Avorld, in the first round of a 15-round bout. In the presence of the creAV of the Bremen Sharkey knocked out Delaney in one minute thirteen seconds in the first round of the scheduled 15-round bout. Delaney Avas. unable to touch Sharkey once. Sharkey Avho Avas fiercely aggressive, states lie will continue to fight his own Avay and Avin the championship yet. Delaney appeared to be badly hurt. * Heeney had an ovation from the croAvd Avhen lie appeared in the ring.
