WAIKATO DIOCESE DISPUTE.
+ OPPOSITION VESTRY ELECTED Hamilton, May 1. The Anglican Bishop of Waikato and Dean Barnett, are meeting Avith considerable opposition to the Anglo-Catholic ritualism, Avhich they are seeking to introduce into church services throughout the diocese. At a meeting of Cathedral parishioners at Hamilton on Monday night all criticism of the Bishop of Waikato Avas ruled out of order by Dean Barnett. Referring to critisicm of AngloCatholic ritualize, Dean Barnett said it Avas not within the province of the vestry to arrange services. He Avas absolutely responsible for the direction of spiritual Avork and arrangement of services. In nominating seven members for the Cathedral Chapter, Mr. G. Bindon said that these candidates Avere deeply concerned over the present unhappy position. They felt that they could not support the present Bishop. If elected they Avould endeavour to restore harmony in the church and resist the Introduction or continuance of ritualistic or Anglo-Catholic practices. All seven so nominated were elected, with three others. *
