STORMY WEATHER.
YESTERDAY’S GALE. * This district ufas visited by stormy weather yesterday afternoon and last night. An easterly gale with cold showers made things unpleasant for those out-of-doors. The gale did a fair amount of damage to trees, fences and sheds.
Telephone and power lines m different parts were damaged but the services were not interfered with.
The thermometer dropped in the afternoon to wintry conditions' and the wind carried the water, in sprays across the main thoronghfareA
No serious damage is repoerted and to-day the gale has abate id. _ The Manawatu river has not 1 risen to any considerable extent, the easterly wind preventing the hoicking up of the tidal water. v
