FOXTON HARBOUR.

MEETING OF BOARD. The meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board held at Palmerston yesterday was presided over by Mr. J. Linklater, M.P. Also present were Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., J. Chrystall, H. Berry, M. Mortensen and the secretary (Mr. R. Rangiheuea). Apologies were received from Messrs E. R. B. Holben, A. .1. Kellow, and W. E. Barber.

CORRESPONDENCE was read and dealt with as follows :

From Harbours Association, enclosing opinion for the information of members concerning the liability of Boards for the acts of pilots. —Resolved (Nash-Chrystall) to ask the Harbours Association whether an appointment of a pilot is the same as the licensing of one. From same respecting the next conference of Harbour Boards and various.—Received.

From same, enclosing Prime Minister’s reply to a request for a fresh Coastal Survey of New Zealand. —Received.

From same advising date and place for the next conference and asking for names of delegates, and for remits. —Resolved to appoint Messrs Linklater and Nash, M.P’s., to represent the Board at the proposed conference to be held at Auckland, on Wednesday, January 30th, 1929.

From Aiax. Ross, asking permission to have his lease of lot 214 cancelled. —Resojlvel to leave the matter in the hands of the secretary for adjustment. From Railway Department, forwarding Grant No. 17285 for rcexeeution. —Resolved to authorise Messrs Nash and Mortenson to sign same on behalf of the Board. From T. F. Long and Co., asking for particulars of dredges recently advertised and also for 10 per cent, commission in the event of sale being made. J Dredges.—lt was decided on the motion of Mr. Nash, seconded by Mr. Chrystall that failing satisfactory negotiation with McArthur Bros, by the chairman, .the secretary to offer Messrs T. F. Long and Co. 5 per cent, commission in the event of a sale being made through them.

Logs. —Resolved to leave the matter of removing logs from river in the hands of Mr. Berry. Resolved to defer the matter of reducing port charges for the next meeting. T It was decided to ho?d the next meeting at Foxton on Monday, May 28th.
