BATHERS CAPTURE SHARK.
BY FORCING STICK DOWN ITS THROAT.
Christchurch, Last Night. As four bathers, A. Brand, E. Brand, J. L. Scott, and B. Burgess, w’ere about to enter the surf at North Brighton at seven o’clock this evening their attention was drawn by a woman to what appeared fo be a body float ingin the surf. The sw’immers immediately went to investigate and found that the object was a shark. Providing themselves with a stout stick they attacked the shark, and A. Brand at length succeeded in ramming tho stick down the fish’s throat. The bathers then dragged tho shark ashore, but on the sand tho fish struggled fre,e and again tho stick was rammed'down his throat. The men thereupon dragged him above high water mark. The fish was a blue pointer shark, a dangerous species and urns seven feet eleven inches long.
