GAS WORKS.

JANUARY WORKING,

The amount of gas manufactured during the month of January was 359,500 feet, which with the amount in the holder on January Ist 15,000 feet made a total of 374,500 feet. During the month 309,300 feet were used by consumers, 20,000 feet at the works anl there was 15,000 feet in the holder on February Ist, making a total of 344,300 feet accounted for and leaving 30,200 representing 8.07 pei' cent, unaccounted for. Thirty-five tons of coal were carbonised, yielding 10,270 e.feet of gas to the ton and producing 3 tons of coke. The receipts for the month totalled £197 8s 9d and was made up as follows: —Gas sales (lighting) £3B 17s 7d, heat and power £lO2 11s 2d, coke sales £23 19s 2d, tar sales £27 19s 9d, fittings £3 9s lOd, miscellaneous 12/-.

The expenditure for the month totalled £224 19s 3d, and was made up as follows: —Coal £9B 5s lOd, Salaries and wages £42 4s Od, fittings £lB Is Bd, tools 18/-, engineering repairs 5/-, cartage and freight 11/9, working expenses £1 5s 9d, Interest and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. GAS MANAGER’S REPORT. The gas manager reported that during the month one new service was put in and one building connected up. —Adopted.
