PROGRESSIVE EUCHRE.
CERTAIN PRIZES ILLEGAL Christchurch, February 21. Progressive euchre tournaments .when played for money or money’s worth are illegal. This was the dictum of Mr. Justice Adams in the Supreme Court to-day. ‘ The question came before the Court when an appeal was made against the decision of Mr. E, D. Mosley, S.M., who dismissed an information charging William Alfred Britten with using the Sydenham Football Club Ha'll as a common gaming house. 'Several prosecutions have been made by the police against persons conducting euchre tournaments for profit, but this is the first decision of the Supreme Court upon the question.
