GAS WORKS.

DECEMBER WORKING. The amount of gas manufactured during the-month of December was 375,100 feet, which with the amount in the holder on December Ist 15,000 feet made a total of 390,100 feet. During the month 322,500 feet were used by consumers, 20,000 feet at the works and there was 14,000 feet in the holder on January Ist, making a total of 356,500 feet accounted for and leaving 33,6(10 feet representing 8.5 per cent, unaccounted for. Thirty-six tons of coal were carbonised, yielding 10,419 c.feet of gas to the ton and producing 3 tons of coke. The receipts for the month totalled £l7l 3s 2d and were made up as follows: —Gas sales __ (lighting) £39 11s Bd, heat and power £9B 12s lid, coke sales £9 5s lOd, tar sales £2O 6s 9d, fittings £3 3s Od, miscellaneous 3/-.

The expenditure for the month totalled £2lB 10s 3d, and was made up as follows: —Coal £lOl 2s od, fittings £4O 14s Od, services and fittings £9 15s Id, tools 12/3, sundries £3 0s Od, Interest! and Sinking Fund £63 7s 3d. GAiS MANAGER’S REPORT. The gas manager reported that during the month several services were cleaned out and one new service laid. Two enquiries were on hand for gas in Cook Street, but to serve these residences entailed the laying down pf 230 feet of one inch pipe at a cost of £8 10s Od. Adopted.
