PUBLIC CONVENIENCE.
PROVISION TO BE MADE ON ESTIMATES.
At last night’s Borough Council meeting a letter was received from the Foxton Chamber of Commerce requesting the Council to consider the question of erecting a public convenience in Foxton.
Cr. Lucinsky: A good suggestion, It’s time it was done.
The Mayor said that it was impossible to carry out the work at present without striking a special rate. The matter would be given consideration when preparing the estimates for next year. Cr. Walker said that a motion was already on the Council’s books, moved by himself some years ago, that the Council carry out this work when convenient. The Town Clerk produced a plan of the proposed building which was 12 feet by 9 feet 6 inches in concrete and to cost £45. The Mayor said, the Chamber of Commerce was a real live body, and put forward many wise suggestions which were much appreciated. It would be impossible to erect the building immediately, however. The question of site was discussed, two being mentioned, Whyte Street and. Easton Park, but this question was held over to be reopened when it was decided to consumate the work. . It was resolved that provision for the work be made in next year s estimates.
