TRUST ACCOUNT NOT AUDITED

Wellington, Yestei’day.

Reinhold Henry Wedde, a solicitor, of Wiaipawa, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, with having failed to have his trust account audited as required by the Law Practitioners’ Act. Mr J. M. Tudhope, assistant Crown 'Solicitor, who prosecuted, said that the Act provided that every trust account must be audited by March 31 each year, and a certificate forwarded to the SolicitorGeneral by June 30. If the default continued up to July 31 the minimum penalty was £SO. Defendant had been written to on six occasions and had sent a telegram by the department, but the certificate of audit had not yet been received. Wed•de had been fined £6O for a similar offence at Napier in 1925. Tbe Magistrate (Mr E. Page, S.M.)'fined defendant, who did not appear, £75 and costs.
