REAL CULPRIT NOT PROSEs CUTED.
Masterton, February 10. A charge of selljng adulterated milk, containing nine ..per cent, of water, was preferred against William Parker, dairyman, of Masterton, in the Magistrate’s .Court today.
■Sergeant Dyer said that a farmer, whose name was mentioned, was the real culprit in the case. Defendant obtained his supplies of milk from this farmer and retailed them to the public. Samples had been taken of the milk on the farm also, and deficiencies, it was alleyed, had been found equal to those in the milk in possession of defendant. Mr. R. R. Burridge, who appeared for defendant, said that no water had been added to the milk by defendant after it had been obtained from the farm.
Intimating that he was taking into consideration the fact that defendant was not the guilty party, the Magistrate imposed a fine of £2 with costs.
