FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
AUTUMN SHOW ABANDONED. ' •A special general meeting of the above society was held on Thursday evening to discuss the advisability or otherwise of abandoning the autumn show this year. There was a good attendance, presided over by Mr D. Christie (President). The subject was fully discussed and it was pointed out that the continuous dry weather had had a dis- ' / astrous effect upon gardens and orchards and in view of this it was resolved that in the interests of the society, it would be wise to abandon the autumn show this year. ■ T.he President expressed sincere regret that such action sihould bene# cessary but considered that the society were acting for the best. He mentioned that there was a good display of dahlias in many gardens worthy of exhibition and he was prepared to have these blooms exhibited in one of C. M. Ross Co.’s shop windows at an early date. The President’s offer was accepted.
