DEATH IN HOSPITAL.

EVIDENCE AT INQUEST.

Dannevirke, February 3,

The death occurred at the Dan-' nevirke Public Hospital early on Wednesday morning of William Perrin, aged 67 years, who had been an inmate of the institution for some months, suffering from chronic bronchitis and asthma.

An inquest disclosed that Perrin had gone to Palmerston North, where he said he had purchased isome pellets, some of which he had taken in cocoa, on Tuesday, about 7 p.m., presumably for inducing sleep. He died some hours later. A verdict that death was due to cardiac failure, following on a pulmonary hemorrhage, accelerated by an overdose of the pellets, self-ad-ministered, was ;■ returned. There was no evidence to show that they had been taken for any other purpose than inducing sleep.
