LEARNING TO FLY.

The ten cadets who began a course of training as pilots at the Wigram Aerodrome on 25th November, are making very good progress (states the “Lyttelton Times.”) Seven of them are already flying solo. “The cadets are all doing well, and I hope to have the other three on solo flying within the next few days,” said Captain M. Buckley. After a. break for the Christmas and New Year holidays, training was resumed on lflth January, and will carry on until 3rd March. The cadets are undergoing a thorough course of instruction. Flying begins at 9 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m., and in the afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. Each cadet receives dual instruction. Practical rigging, lectures on the engine, machine gun, wireless, navigation, and theory of flying complete the course. The dadets have their evenings free. Training for the year will end on 3rd March, but the same batch will take another three months next year. At the end of that period they will be pilots and qualified to fly service machines.
