CORRESPONDENCE.

(To The Editor). Sir, —May I make a few remarks on the subject broached by Cr. Spring at the last Council meeting re the conduct of the child patrons at the Town Hall pictures. Now, Sir, as one who patronises the pictures my personal observation of ill-man-nered conduct I found came from rush the fringe of the circle and, a few hoodlums of both sexes who during the whole of the evening 'munch their natural food “peanuts,” carefully dropping the shells and «■,ther refuse on the unfortunates below. On one occasion recently I Miformed the door-keeper with the result that the culprits were caught in the act, and -duly dealt with. What I would suggest to cure the evil is that a person known only to the Management be admitted to any part of the house free, with the object of finding out the would-be “smart Alecs” and reporting them to the Management to be there dealt vith. There is just one other phase I would like to deal with and that is Cr. Cowley’s effort to shift the dame for the annoyance on to the visiting children from Wellington — a most unfair attack indeed. I suppose our children' are models of propriety—let’s hope so—but personally I doubt it. I have yet to see the boy Avorth bis salt Avho led a blameless life. Give me the kid Avith a kick in him in preference to the one who is brought up to look on life as a thing meant only to be practised with the utmost piety. The offenders at the Town Hall are from seventeen years of age up and those .whose manners are supposed to be Uie acme of piety. Cr. Cowley’s remarks are no more justified than for me to accuse them of being the Persons who robbed my garden this week. I know those unfortunates Gdm Wellington got a lot of blame hut let Cr. Cowley remember they are only humans, born in a different environment from our children. DADDY.
