The vital statistics for the month of December are as follows, the figures for the corresponding month of the previous year being given in parenthesis:—Births 5 (7), deaths 2 (3), marriages 1 (5). Maori bir-. ths 1 (nil). For the quarter ending December 31st, 1927, the returns are as fol-lows-Births 16 (15), deaths 4 (6), marriages 2 (5). Maori births 1 (2),-deaths 2 (1).
The statistics for the year show births 80 (72), deaths 24 (21), marriages 8 (10). Maori births 3 (5), deaths. 7 (3).
