BOOKMAKER FINED £IOO.
Auckland, December 28. Robert Ryan, aged 58, was fined £IOO to-day for keeping a common gaming house in Queen street premises. The police said that Ryan had done well in an extensive book--1 making business over the Christmas holidays. He had been fined the maximum on a similar charge in December, 1925. Ashed why he should not be imprisoned, Ryan said that he had a wife and eight children to support.
