BALCLUTHA BOYS’BAND.
SPEND A HAPPY TIME IN FOXTON.
The Balclutha Boys’ Band arrived in Foxton on Thursday evening from Shannon. The boys were conveyed to the punt by the Shannon people and after crossing the ferry were picked up by Messrs Madge Bros char-a-banc and brought on to Foxton. On arrival here at 8 p.m., they marched to the Town Hall where, after playing a selection, they were billeted out. The boys were welcomed by the Mayor (Mr. Perreau), who expressed the hope that their stay in Foxton would he enjoyable. The object of the tour was to promote an interest in hands generally and was deserving of the support of every town in the Dominion. He congratulated the hoys on their playing and Jiopod the public would be liberal in their support during the hand’s sojourn in Foxton. The Mayor then extended an invitation!to the boys to attend the pictures. Mr. J. Gold (manager) thanked the Mayor for his invitation and remarks and the public for the way it had received the hoys.
Yesterday morning they had a dip in the baths and a wander around the town. In the afternoon they were conveyed to the Beach and on ther return further selections were played in Main Street. In the evening a concert was given in V the Town Hall and the Band left Foxton this morning‘for the north. Those who extended hospitality to the lads speak in the hightest terms of their behaviour*
