Mr. Courtice Pounds, the celebrated actor is dead, aged 65 years. Mr. S. L. Patterson, barrister, of Auckland, has been appointed a Stipendiary Magistrate. Mr. W. J. G. Roach, of Foxton, gained the following passes in the University of New Zealand Diploma, in Banking examinations, held at Palmerston North last month: Economics, Bills of Exchange and Commercial and Banking Law. The death occurred at Masterton yesterday,' after a long illness, of Mrs. Jessie Hirschberg, widow of the late Mr. W. J. Hirschberg. Deceased, who was years of age, was? a sister of the lats Mrs. C. Symons, of Foxton. Messrs R. W. Wallace (Levin) and W. Wallace (Karori) are brothers, and Mrs. Eric Chalmers (Masterton) and Miss Wallace (Wanganui) are sisters.
