Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Jack and Newton.
Correspondence Avas received from the secretary of the Foxton Silver Band, acknowledging dona tion of £lO, and from the caretaker of the racecourse acknowled-c~, ging a donation. , p Mr. D. R. Barron suggested that the committee should decide upon a .definite meeting night in order to ensure a full attendance. —It was decided that the secretary send a notice card to each member of Committee and that a night suitable to the majority be decided upon. The president stated that the principal business of the meeting was to discuss the holding of a horse sports meeting after the race meeting in January. The association had authority to hold a nontotalisator race meeting. The object of the meeting was to put on a programme of hosre events to bo interspersed with athletic events. A programme for a meeting on those lines, he said, had been arranged for 1925, but had been abandoned owing to the infantile paralysis epidemic. “Perhaps, it < was as well that it had been abandoned,” he said, as the athletic events would ■ have let the meeting down.”
Mr. F. Woods moved that a horse sports meeting be held in February. Mr. Woods stated a similar meeting had been held at Oroua Downs for years and was a success. Such a meeting would attract. people from all parts of the district.
Mr. S. Barber seconded "the motion.
Mr. Ogilvy pointed out that sanction to hold the meeting would have to be obtained from the military authorities who would be in occupation of the racecourse in February.
Mr. Bryant suggested that tlr&/ , meeting could be held in March or April. He moved that a committee consisting of ' Messrs Woods,.- S. Barber, W. E. Barber, D. R. Barron, W. Ross and the president and secretary be set up to go into details and report. The amendment wms carried. The secretary was instructed to take steps to effect the sale of a marking machine.
