FOXTON FOOTBALL CLUB.
RACING. CLUB GRANTS PLAYING AREA. The Foxton Rugby Football Club has now obtained frdm the Foxton Racing Club a definite playing area on the racecourse. Last night the Racing Club Committee, presided over by the president, Mr. W. E. Barber, received a deputation from the Foxton Rugby Football Club comprising Messrs 11. Hutchins, J. K. Hornblow, D. Christie, and D. R. Barron, who made application for a playing area on the racecourse, known as No. 1 ground. The deputation stated that the club was anxious to have the control of an area which they could improve and control for club purposes. They were prepared to expend money in this connection if a site was granted, subject to such conditions as the Racing Club might impose. At present the arrangements were unsatisfactory in this connection. The request was discussed at some length and it was finally and unanimously decided to giant the Foxton Rugby Football Club the use and control of No. 1 ground, for the 1928 season with preference for a further term, subject to, the Racing Club’s right to terminate such right by giving one week’s notice. The Committee stated that -the club would have to make its own arrangements with other Rugby Clubs or the union as to the use of the ground alloted and admission charges. The deputation thanked the Club Committee and said it would not undertake any improvements without first submitting specifications of same to the club and obtaining its sanction.
