FOXTON HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
SUMMER SHOW. People do not often specialize in growing flowers, but have a few each, of many varieties, the ordinary section and class in a show does not appeal to them. This year the society, through the generosity of Mr. W) Ross, has a class in which every grower of flowers can exhibit. A collection of cut blooms, one bloorri of each colour of any variety of cut flowers (grown outside) exhibits to be judged for variety and quality; first prize £1 Is, 2nd 10/-, 3rd 5/-. The committee have also introduced a novelty in the cookery section. A plum pudding made from the following recipe: J lb. flour, 2 lh. suet or shreddo, i lh- breadcrumbs (dried), 1 tablespoon of treacle, 2 ozs. sugar, 1 cup raisins, 1 cup sultanas, 1 piece lemon peel (cut fine), 1 teaspoonful of baking powder, i teaspoon of salt, 1 egg, mix with milk. First prize 10/-, second 2/6.
