MOTOR ACCIDENT.
A motor accident occurred on the c orner of Park and Victoria Streets at about 5.30 o’clock on Thursday evening, fortunately, not attended by any serious results. A two-sea-ter car belonging to Mr. Anaru, of Hawke’s Bay, was proceeding along Vctoria Street, in the direction of Foxton, while another two-seater car, driven by Mr. McDougal, of Palmerston North, was travelling up Park Street, in the opposite direction. It appears that the latter bar kept too close in.at the corner, and Mr Anaru, realising that he had not room to get around the corner without striking the other vehicle, pulled, his car off the road and struck a stump which caused the car to swerve and turn on its side. The other car escaped without damage, but Mr. Anaru’s car sustained a badly bent front axle, smashed bumper and side glass and damage to one,of the mudguards. Had it not been for Mr. Anaru’s in pulling off the road a more serious a'ccident mlust have .resulted.
