FOXTON BOWLING CLUB.
OFFICIAL OPENING,
The official opening of the Eoxton Bowling Club took place yesterday afternoon in fine weather. The green was in fair condition and improved with/ play. The attendance of visitors constituted a record for the club, 140 being present from Feilding, Palmerston North, Shannon, and Levin. The -President (Mr. R. Bryant),
xtended a welcome to the visitors
and expressed the hope that they would have an enjoyable afternoon’s play. Mrs. Bryant sent up the first bowl and the President
formerly declared the green open for play. The bowlers spent an enjoyable afternoon on the green, the games resulting as follows: — R. Bryant (Eoxton) 22, v. Gunning (Shannon) 10. Thomson (Eoxton) 18, v. Shannon (Shannon), 14. Davidson (Terrace End) 22, v. Mason (Shannon) 17. Hawke (Levin) 19, v. Cunninghame (Northern) 18. Matheson (Palmerston North) 18, v. Bull (Levin) 12. Gibson (Levin) 19, v. Chappell (Oroua) 14. 'Stevens (’BuHls) 22, A r . Woods (Eoxton) 21. During the afternoon a tasty afternoon tea was provided by, the ladies. OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE CROQUET COURT. The croquet courts were also declared open for play during the afternoon, the President (Mrs. M. E. Perreau), playing the first ball. Play resulted as follows: — Zig-zag competition: Mrs. Walker (Levin) 33. Golf croquet: Mrs. Baggery (Levin) 8. Target croquet: Mrs. J. Barr
(Eoxton) 40. Representatives of Takaro, Northern, Oroua, Levin, Shannon, and Terrace End Clubs were present and an enjoyable time was spent by all.
